ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced instructional designer to write engaging, instructionally-sound e-learning scripts and storyboards that not only conveys new knowledge and skills, but also ensures the content addresses learners’ mindset and behavior.

Our ideal candidate is deeply passionate about creating meaningful learning experiences and is driven by a strong desire to discover the most effective ways for learners to engage with the content.

They should seek an understanding of the broader impact that every word, phrase, interaction, and image has on the learner, ensuring that each element creates a memorable, lasting impression that inspires on-the-job application.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

  1. Review project plans and high level design documents to fully understand the goal of the training.
  2. Attend and/or review recorded meetings with subject matter experts (SMEs) and research training content provided by Media-Vox and through self-directed online research.
  3. Articulate problem and vision statements, and write course purposes and learning objectives. 
  4. Write engaging, relevant, and meaningful training content to achieve learning objectives and desired outcomes.
  5. Storyboard learning experiences that are relevant and memorable, without the need for superficial or gimmicky games.
  6. Suggest interactions based on the capabilities of the planned tool (e.g., Articulate Rise or Storyline).
  7. Search for images, icons, and creative ways to present training content for maximum participation and retention. (Online content will be developed in Articulate Storyline or Rise.)
  8. Collaborate with developers to communicate training design, make necessary edits, and relay feedback and requests from the client. 
  9. Provide an exceptional client and project experience by communicating clearly and promptly.
  10. Regularly document project progress in ClickUp (our project management tool).
  11. Regularly communicate with your manager regarding project progress to ensure the project remains on schedule and within budget.
  12. Employ thoughtfulness and attention to detail when reviewing research, writing content, and developing training solutions.
 

When presenting a script or storyboard for internal or Subject Matter Expert review, the Instructional Designer should be able to answer Yes to each of these questions:

  1. Are you confident the content supports the learning objectives?
  2. Do you feel you’ve created a human connection?
  3. Do you feel that each element you’ve included in the script/storyboard (words, interactions, images) creates a memorable, lasting impression that inspires on-the-job application?
  4. Are all of the interactions you’ve suggested capable of being developed in the planned tool(s)?
  5. Is the script/storyboard formatted for easy review and understanding by a new SME who has never reviewed e-learning content before?
  6. Are you proud of the content you have put together?
